In the Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest in the Alps, you will discover places you did not even dream of.
Still and Standing
Water in its most breathtaking form, as glacial ice, has been covering vast areas of the Hohe Tauern high mountains for many centuries, opening up a breathtaking world of experience. When the eternal ice retreats, SILENT WATER remains. The retreat of the glaciers has created up to 150 mountain lakes in the Karen and on the high plateaus of the Hohe Tauern.
As a guest you have the unique opportunity to book a top trained national park ranger for a whole day or simply to participate in the current national park summer program. Our rangers plan for and with you an individual journey of discovery through the national park and lead you to rushing waterfalls on Austria’s largest glacier in the Eastern Alps – the Pasterze – or to places where you can observe wildlife from very close.
