Carinthia’s highest pilgrimage church
The “Marterle” and its well-known pilgrimage church is located in the town of Rangersdorf at 1836 m altitude. From here a splendid view to the Kreuzeck Group and to the Lienz Dolomites awaits. The fourth stage of the Alpe-Adria-Trail – along distance hiking trail from the Großglockner to the Adria – starts right at the ‘Martele’ (Carinthian dialect for wayside cross). From Lainacher Kuhalm at 1416m altitude, you get the best views across the Mölltal mountain realm. You definitely ought to enjoy a refreshment stop here and sample the home-made cheese.
