In 1974 Assling wildlife park was set up on the Pustertal sun terrace, managed by Rudolf Diemling and Vinzenz Lukasser. The idea also came about through a recommendation made by experts, who were scrutinising the area for its economic opportunities.
On an area spanning 80,000m² of pasture and woodland of the Pedretscher Hof, a wild animal enclosure was set up, in which more than 100 animals from 30 individual species live.
Since 1994 the wildlife park has been supervised and managed by Markus Lukasser. His goal: to preserve species that are, in part endangered, provide natural, species-specific care, as well as the expansion and development of various aviaries.
The crew at Assling wildlife park and the farmshop always endeavour to see to the well-being of all their guests and animals.
Right in the area is a freely accessible children’s play area, an educational forest trail and Grandpa’s model railway.
