Emperor Frederick I, known as “Barbarossa”, once paused in this gorge, as he returned from the crusades with his brave warriors. Exhausted, he fell asleep at the “Barbarossa Table”, whilst some of his soldiers kept night watch. Presently the devil appeared before them, and thereafter dogged their steps. How the story ended you can find out as you make your way through this fairytale gorge.
