Visiting the late Gothic parish church of St. Vinzenz is very popular and not just because of its location directly at the foot of the highest mountain in Austria. Renowned well beyond the state borders, this pilgrimage church can tell its visitors a fascinating story.
Among the most beautiful and famous churches in Austria, St. Vinzenz accommodates a flask containing the “Holy Blood” of the Byzantine commander Briccius. The ‘Legend’ of Briccius is represented in the church by a series of impressive pictures.
Amongst the other highlights of the church are:
* the Gothic high altar from 1520
* the crypt with the tomb of Saint Briccius
* the wrought iron memorial book to commemorate those who perished on the Großglockner
