Climbing in the National Park

The Malta valley is among the best and most significant primary rock climbing areas in Austria. Exciting new routes are continually being established on the best rock and in a fabulous setting. But also worth a visit are the “climbing garden” on the Danielsberg in the Möll valley, near the Reißeck funicular, as well as the new climbing centre in the vicinity of the Arthur-von-Schmid House!

Fishing in the National Park Region

Every angler’s dream: fly fishing!
The Möll river is considered a superb place for fly fishing because its waters are so clear. Arguably no region in Carinthia other than the National Park Region provides such ideal conditions for this noble form of fishing.

Alpine horse-riding – on the trail of the “sumpters”

For centuries adventurous tradesmen known as "sumpters" transported wine, salt and gold to far away towns and ports on the backs of their packhorses. Immerse yourself in those long lost golden times and explore the old trade routes of the National Park on horseback.

Fixed-rope-routes in the Hohe Tauern National Park

The Hohe Tauern National Park offers fixed-rope-route enthusiasts some of the most spectacular “iron paths” in the whole of Austria. Examples are those on the 200 metre high Fallbach waterfall in the Malta valley, and on the Säuleck at an altitude of over 3,000 metres. But beginners are catered for too and will find several worthwhile fixed rope routes for practising.

Trekking in the Hohe Tauern National Park

In Nepal, in New Zealand, or on the road to Santiago. And in the Hohe Tauern too! From refuge hut to refuge hut, past mountain lakes and tarns, waterfalls and glaciers, and up to high passes. Time and again in the valleys and mountains new miniature worlds will reveal themselves before your very eyes.
